About

Markus Klotz is a researcher and specialist in therapeutic apheresis and the development of individualised multimodal protocols for complex chronic conditions. His work centres on advanced extracorporeal med tech therapies that address microcirculation, immune modulation, and related dysfunctions frequently observed in post-viral syndromes and long-term inflammatory states.
His current focus is developing advanced forms of apheresis technologies and facilities under the umbrella of the BlueprintXBio fund.
Following his own recovery from severe Long COVID through H.E.L.P. Apheresis under the care of Dr Beate Jaeger in Germany, where he was among the earliest patients to receive what evolved into broader combination approaches, Markus established a dedicated apheresis centre in 2022. Working closely with co-reserachers, scientists and medical teams, he has refined protocols that integrate precise apheresis with targeted diagnostics, multimodal therapy, nutritional strategies, and supportive coaching to support optimal patient trajectories.
He is a member of the RAPID research team.
His approach is grounded in both clinical experience and evolving research into persistent immune, mitochondrial, and clotting factors. He has contributed to expert discussions on these mechanisms and was featured in the ARTE documentary about Long Covid. He has also participated in international panels alongside researchers advancing understanding in this field.
At Elysium Institut, Markus brings his expertise in high-standard, patient-focused apheresis to complement the clinic’s premium regenerative and functional medicine programmes in Zürich.
